BABATUNDE ADEYEMO OYEGBOLA, Director, Estate Department

BABATUNDE ADEYEMO OYEGBOLA was born in Ebute Metta, Lagos on 24TH October, 1960.

He attended Eko Boys’ High School, Mushin, from 1972 to 1976, St. Gregory’s College Obalende, from 1976 to 1978 where he obtained Higher School Certificate. He proceeded to University of Nigeria, Nsukka from 1978 to 1982 where he graduated with Bsc Estate Management. He Served At Osunkojo And Associates and also Served as Estate Surveyor and Valuer with Messrs Adeniyi (NYSC) 1982-1983 Served as Estate Surveyor and Valuer with Messrs Adeniyi

He joined Lagos State Civil Service and was appointed as Lands Officer Grade II GL 08 into Lagos State Civil Service 30th Sept. 1983 and was later confirmed on 30th Sept 1985.

Oyegbola Progressed steadily in the State Civil Service to the position of Director of Lands Services on 1st July, 2010, Currently Director of Estates Ministry of Housing.

He is member of various professional bodies includes:

Associate Member of Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers. Associates of the Rating Valuation Association of the United Kingdom, Member of the International Valuation Standard Organisation. Member of the Lincoln Land Institute, Massachusetts, USA.

He also attended several courses and conferences at home and abroad on Land Management, Land Law, Human Resources and General Management notable amongst which are:

Legal Issues in Land Administration in Lagos State organised by Faculty of Law University of Lagos. Implementation of the Geographic Information System in the Third World organised by the World Bank at the University of Harare. Mediation, Conflict Resolution and Crisis Management organised by Centre for Management Development (CMD). Study Tour of Singapore and The United Arab Emirates organised by the State Government Project Management and Implementation. Issues in Revocation of Right of Occupancy under the Land Use Act organised by the Lagos State Climate Change Conferences organised by the Lagos State Ministry of Environment.

Served in various Government Establishments and Agencies and in several capacities as follows:

Land Use and Allocation Committee as Head of Estates, Lands Division which later became the Land Services Directorate. Planning Research and Statistics Office of the old Ministry of Lands and Housing .

Performed several duties related to land, housing and property management throughout the State notable amongst which were:

Representing the State on issues connected with Federal Government Landed Properties in Lagos State. Member of the Delegation of Lagos State Land Administrators to Oyo State for retrieval of records of Landed properties transferred to Lagos by the defunct Western Region Government of Nigeria pursuant to implementation of the ”Inter-State Working Party Report on Transfer of the Colony Province to Lagos State Government”.

Coordination of several acquisitions, revocations and processing of compensation claims on the several cases including:

The 5,000 acres Acquisitions extending from Oworonshoki to Gbagada, Ilupeju, Oshodi, Isolo inherited form the Western Region of Nigeria.

The 120 square miles Acquisition known as the Global Acquisition extending from Amuwo Odofin to the Badagry township.

7,300 acres Acquisition known as the North Ikeja Airport Acquisition extending from Oregun Alausa through Omole, Magodo, Isheri, and Ojota Ogudu.

The Lekki Peninsula Revocation extending from Victoria Island and bounded by the Lagos Lagoon and the Atlantic Ocean up to Epe township boundary.

The Adiyan Water works acquisition extending from Oke Aro to the Ogun River Water in-take undertaken by the Ogun Sate Government on behalf of Lagos State.

The proposed Lagos State International Airport Site. Lekki Lagos Free Trade Zone Site.

Orile-Badagry Expressway Project.

Initiation of new Land Policies including treatment of forfeited properties and many innovations culminating in the new Governor’s Consent policy particularly preparation of assessment schedules and mass valuation techniques.

Acting as Permanent Secretary over the last 10 years.
